Tomorrow I’m off for a week of vacation! I’ll be headed to Ibiza for one day – mainly to visit the hippy markets, which are another addiction of mine, almost at the same level of cheese- and then spend 7 days on the archipelago’s tiny secret, Formentera.
… And this is all I’ve packed.
Ok, so let me explain.
The striped luggage is the one I’m taking with me for vacation. I’m quite proud of myself for having fit in all I wanted – which is, by the way, much more than I what I will need (as is always the case). The bag on the left is almost empty and will be my handbag. This allows me extra space for all the things I’ll purchase at the local street markets. The dark and classic carry on bag will stay here with a note on it containing a list of things that I will need to transfer from the colorful bag, once I’m back from vacation.
That’s right. (Un)surprisingly, I have to be in London the morning after arriving (late) from vacation. Given that I will have about 8 hours at home, I’ve carefully prepared the bag for a 5 day business trip to my soon to be new home. The magical list on top of my carry on will (hopefully) avoid me unpleasant situations, like forgetting my passport and only realizing when I’m sitting in the train!
To compensate with all the hassle, London will be holding the Great British Beer Festival. That’s what I’d call a warm welcome!

It would be nice to fly directly from Ibiza to London. It would avoid your swimsuit to be missing in London ;-)
I now have a enhanced checklist for those kind of situations: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cuocoli/5421684743/ And try to make a new one every time I unpack
That’s so organized! I also put in all in piles and make mental notes such as “for lazy beach days”, “for drink watching the sunset”, “for the day I do some sightseeing”…
I’m definitely the type to pack my luggage in advance. I usually pack a few days ahead. This way I can take my time and have less of a chance of forgetting anything.
Have fun in Ibiza!

Me too! If I pack to quickly, I’m very likely to forget underwear… or a pijama… or socks!
I pack at least 2-3 weeks before a trip, no joke!!! OMG I’m obsessed with Ibiza…can’t wait to see your posts! Buen viaje bonita!

2-3 weeks? Wow, that’s a lot! I think I couldn’t do it since I would run out of wardrobe :)
I pack the day/night before I leave BUT 1-2 weeks ahead I make a list of everything I will take. That way if I need to wear something I want to take I do it early the week prior to departure and then wash it so it’s ready to go in the bag the day before.

I consider myself a good “packer”, I always use the same backpack and I make lists weeks ahead. I usually don’t have much though, 12 kilos of lugguage top.
Great time for the London move!
I would totally pack just like this. I am going back to the states for a visit home in 3 weeks and I have already started packing my bag.

Haha, I am exactly the same. I have so many separate lists everywhere before I travel. It is all good though, that way I hardly ever forget anything (important). Have a great vacation! I love Formentera, so beautiful and peaceful!

It seems a bit unnecessary to tell you to take pictures to share with us :) so I’ll just say, “have fun!”

That is a very smart idea to have your next bag for your next trip ready to go. Great article!
I’ve just been stressing over my packing list. This made me feel a bit better :) Thanks!
